This year (2007) the US Amateur was held at The Olympic Club. The format of the tournament is a 2 day stroke play event (medal round) where the top 64 advance to match play. During the 2 day stroke event they use 2 courses. The Olympic Club happens to have 2 world class course. The Lake Course is in the top 10 in the World and The Ocean Course is in the top 20 in California.
I had the opportunity to volunteer as a marshal during the medal play. What a treat to both help a great event, see all of those great golfers, and hang around at a world class facility.
I was on the 4th hole of Lake (the number 1 handicap for the members.)
Over the next several days I will be telling of my experiences during the 2007 US Amateur.
