About the Course:
Strawberry Farms is a delightful course located in Irvine, CA. It’s not terribly difficult for novices to master, but experienced players should still be able to enjoy their round here. They have a great mix of interesting terrain, and the 35 acre reservoir makes many of the holes here very interesting to play.
Strawberry Farms was designed by Doug DeCinces, who used to play third base for the California Angels and it has quickly become one of the most popular courses in the Irvine area.
What You Need to Know:
You can register your tee time by calling the number listed above. Although they don’t have an online registration system, you can still find some great specials on a regular basis on their site.
This is a sprawling course and we highly recommend using a cart, since it will take forever if you try to walk the course. The grill is a great place to relax after your round and the food is some of the best we’ve come across. The facilities are all very well maintained and we found the course to be in excellent condition, no matter what time of year you visit.
Playing Hints:
Our favorite holes have to be the ones that run alongside the reservoir, but the twelfth hole will be the biggest challenge. It narrows into a thin channel that runs right alongside the water, and there is little room for error. This is a very long hole, but you’ll need to watch your second shot (or your third depending on distance). Try for accuracy here and don’t be afraid to underhit on your way to the green. It’s a lot easier than trying to go diving for your ball.
The front nine is definitely easier than the back, but you’ll get a good warmup to prepare you for the back nine. These are all around the reservoir, and there are many small streams to watch out for in between. We love a challenge so this part of the course was not only fun, but it gives you a great chance to really work on your game and improve your skills. We highly recommend this course.
