Ryan Moore, from Puyaallup, has managed to earn his very first tour victory in the PGA tour. The golfer Ryan Moore has spent plenty of time waiting and sitting around during the recent Wyndham Championship tournament. A few more extra moments really were not going to bother him, of course, not with his very first ever victory at a PGA Tour event sitting on the line like that.
He managed to earn quite a breakthrough victory by claiming a birdie during the third hole of a playoff round, allowing him to beat Stadler at the Sedgefield Country Club on Sunday. He remarked that he was surprisingly able to remain patient, and that was what he believed to have led to his success.
After he moved up on the leader board by scoring five birdies consecutively while playing on the back nine, he had two additional chances that would allow him to steal a sudden death victory after he approached the No. 18 hole with his ball landing in the middle of the green before rolling to approximately six feet. He managed to make that birdie putt, allowing him to win for his first time in a total of 112 different tour starts.
Moore managed to walk away with $918,000 in prize earnings, and he managed to boost his overall season earnings to a nice $1,933,727. Moore originally entered into the event at the No. 121 spot in the world, and he has made at least $1.1 million dollars in all of his last four seasons, and he has had a total of four second-spot finishes on the PGA Tour up until this point, but never a PGA tour event win up until now.
He turned pro officially in 2005, after having had a truly sensation career in the amateurs. He remarked after the tournament on Sunday that it really felt like he was fighting an uphill battle, since the entire time he has been on the tour, he has been dealing with a lot of issues including health problems and simply not feeling like himself. He remarked that he was happy to feel like himself again once and for all.
Moore managed to close with a 5 below par 65, matching Stadler (66) as well as Jason Bohn (62) at a total of 16 under 264 for the 72 holes played so far in the tournament. To date, this tournament has had a combined total of 9.5 hours worth of delays as a result of weather.
During the tournament this weekend, Bohn was unfortunately eliminated on the first hole of the playoff.
Garcia (70) managed to squander a lead of three strokes during the final round, settling instead for fourth place at 15 below. Fred Couples (67) was among a total of five different players that were tied in fifth place with 14 under.
