Course History:
This course is known as the municipal course with a private country club feel and that really hits the nail on the head. The green fees are astounding given the fact that you really are getting a level of play and service that is consistent with a private club. This is a Scottish style links course as is considered to be one of the best in the central valley.
Ron Fream is the course architect and his creation sprawls over 200 acres. There are twelve manmade lakes on the course and it is truly an incredible experience. We've included directions to this course since it is a bit off the beaten path. However, it is more than worth the time it takes to get here. Anyone on the West Coast should consider playing this course at least once - it's that good.
What You Need to Know:
You can get your tee time by calling the number listed above. They do not offer any online booking options, but it is hard to beat these prices anywhere, especially since the course is so fantastic. The pro shop is very well stocked and chances are you'll do a double take when you see the prices. Everything is top quality but priced at discount levels.
The practice facility features all grass tees and the whole range is lit so you can practice at night. Lessons are also provided at very reasonable rates and can be scheduled throughout the day or night. The clubhouse features a bar, California cuisine and patio dining. It is a great place to relax after giving this course a try.
Playing Hints:
The best part about a Scottish links style course is that it will give you a great challenge as well as a connection with the past. The biggest challenge is the canal that winds throughout the entire course. The previously mentioned 12 lakes are also quite a challenge but with accuracy and careful planning, you should be able to avoid them.
The back nine was designed in the midst of an old almond orchard and these trees still remain. You'll have quite a task weaving in and out of the groves as you approach the greens. By far the most challenging hole on this course is the 9th - you'll be dealing with 17 bunkers, many of them several feet deep as you make your way to the green. We recommend staying to the center of the fairway and erring on the side of caution with shorter shots to avoid getting into trouble.
Fees:
$35.00 Weekday
$40.00 Friday
$55.00 Weekend
$28.00 Weekday Twilight
$31.00 Friday Twilight
$37.00 Weekend Twilight
