Everyone was watching with tension as Rory McIlroy stood poised to take the U.S Open in a record winning slew. Actually, the tension was not that great. In fact, there were many who were downright loose the entire time. Mcilroy was even chuckling along with his caddie and others at a time when the rest of the field would be extremely tense. This is because of the fact that he started the day at six under and shot a birdie on the first hole.
The last great showing from this 22 year old golfer was at Augusta International for the Masters. He was poised to be among the greats when everything went wrong for him on Sunday. This win was a way to put a cork in the doubts of all those who thought that maybe they had misjudged the young player. He rallied to not only take the title. He was also able to earn the ability to win with an eight shot victory. Just taking the title would have been enough, but the fact that he did so with such a wide margin was enough to remind everyone about the fact that he is one of the best players in the world right now.
Other golfers are patting Mcilroy on the back for a job well done. Even his father was in attendance to see him clench the title. With ‘happy father’s day’ wishes being given, the fact that his son was able to perform at the top of his game was present enough. Mcilroy was even wished well by Graeme McDowell whenever he crossed over onto the green at the 18th hole. He was told that he is a legend. Of course, this is not all going to the young player’s head. He still keeps his head grounded.
One of the things which has made him one of the best players around is the fact that he simply has fun whenever he plays. He enjoys playing the game and does not get too hung up whenever he is losing or winning. The secret to his success is simply to have fun whenever he is on the course. Of course, it does not hurt that he has a lot of natural abilities that he can tap into so that he can get all of the titles that he is looking to enjoy throughout the rest of his career.
Among the many different things that people are looking at is all of the different records that he set at this U.S Open. He was able to set the 36 hole record with a 131 score. He then set the 54 hole record with a 199. Further, he set the 72 hole record with a 268. The record for most under par was also set with having a 17 under score. Of course, he also set the record for the quickest to reach double digits under par when he got to 10 under par after only 26 holes. We expect to see much more from this player.
