About the Course -
Maderas golf course was ranked number one for five years straight by the Zagat survey for 2003 to 2007. There is a grand view of the adjoining countryside, with its lush greens, canyons waterfalls and more. The course is only located 30 minutes from downtown San Diego. The Maderas golf course was designed by the former PGA Tour player Johnny Miller and an acclaimed landscaping architect by the name of Robert Muir Graves. They wanted the course to be both challenging and beautiful, and took advantage of the inland hill country in California to create what they feel is the ultimate experience in golf. The course originally opened its doors to players on Nov 7, 1999.
What You Need to Know -
Reservations can be made up to sixty days in advance for members. Carts are included in the green fees, but members are also allowed to walk. 90-degree cart rules are demanded all year round. Booking a tee time is easy, and can be done over the internet at http://www.maderasgolf.com/, over the phone or in person. The Maderas golf course has been ranked the #1 golf course in San Diego County by the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Zagat Survey so far. The Maderas Golf Course does not require a specific dress code, but if you have concerns about your dress, you may want to contact the Pro shop on the grounds for more information about your options.
Tips for Beginners -
The par, yardage, slope and rating for each Maderas course is rated as follows: 72 / 7115 / 145 / 75.6 for black, 72 / 6840 / 140 / 74.1 for Maderas, 72 / 6654 / 138 / 73.1 for gold, 72 / 6352 / 135 / 71.7 for silver, 72 / 6057 / 131 / 70.3 for copper, 72 / 6057 / 142 / 75.0 for w-copper. Take advantage of the rolling hills that the San Diego region of California is known for. You will find a wide range of pars here, with four difficult Par 5 holes, and numerous other challenges. The Maderas Golf Club's website gives excellent pointers on each hole, including the par and handicap, and details on how to proceed with each hole to hit par or come under it.
Fees -
From Monday to Thursday, based upon your level of membership, your golf fees are as follows -
- Standard Membership is $170 per person,
- Resident Membership is $135 per person,
- Executive Membership is $110 per person,
- Advantage Membership is $89 per person.
For play on the weekend, standard and resident members will pay an additional $30 per person, executive members will only pay and addition $15 dollars per person and advantage members will still pay under a hundred dollars at only $99 per person.
