Course History:
This is a gorgeous course that Golf Digest readers have given more than four stars to and the locals all rave about it. One trip will fill you in on what all the buzz is about. It's well earned and we were pleasantly surprised by all that the course had to offer.
What You Need to Know:
This course does offer an online tee time registration feature, or you can always call the pro shop at the number listed above. Although this is a very economical course we still recommend dressing in traditional golf attire with collared shirts, nice slacks or shorts and no denim.
We found that the pro shop was very well stocked and had all the latest gear. The grill was nicely outfitted and the menu featured a very good selection of fun snacks with haute cuisine. It was a great place to relax after a game and overall, we really enjoyed our time here. This is more of a resort course, so they do offer special stay and play packages where you can get a really great deal. If you're planning a trip to the area, it's a great way to save on hotel fees and get a few rounds of golf in at the same time.
Playing Hints:
This is a pretty dry course, and the main challenge are the numerous bunkers as well as the rolling terrain. You won't be dealing with any killer hills, but in a way the undulation makes it just as difficult. There will be some holes where you will be hard pressed to be able to find the green.
The 12th hole has a very difficult dog leg, and if you're not careful, getting out of the trees is quite a chore. We recommend hanging to the left to avoid the trees, and a shorter drive. This should set you up nicely for your second shot.
The 15th hole features one of the few water hazards and it is a doozy. It is a par five hole, but don't try to be a hero off the tee. Attempting to make the green in two shots here usually results in disaster, thanks to the lake. Go with a shorter tee shot to give you a better chance of avoiding this hazard. Be forewarned about the green on this hole as well. It has a ridge running right through the center of it, and it is nearly impossible to par this hole as a result.
