Grip Tips for Better Golfing

gripgolfGolf Fundamentals: The fundamentals of golf are the true keys to a long lasting and completely successful swing. They may seem really trivial at first, or even dull, but the importance of these things absolutely cannot be exaggerated.

Forming the Perfect Grip

There are three basic types of golf grips. The overlapping grip is the most popular method of gripping the golf club. The interlocking method tends to be the favored grip style for golfing when it comes to golfers that possess fingers that are relatively short. Finally, you have the two handed grip or the baseball grip, which is especially ideal when it comes to junior players as well as players that have problems with arthritis.

The Perfect Grip

  1. The first step in the process is going to be to support the club's top using your right hand. Hang your left hand down the side of the grip in a natural manner.
  2. Now what you are going to want to do is to bring your left hand forward from the natural hanging position and then hold it against the grip in such a manner that the shaft is running from the pad of your palm diagonally down from your palm to the middle joint of the index finger of that hand.
  3. Now what you are going to want to do is to close up the fingers using your left hand, wrapping them around the club.
  4. Finally, what you should be aiming for is this: Your thumb needs to be flat against the grip, a little bit to the right from the center when you are looking down at it.
  5. Now you should bring your right hand forward from the natural hanging position, laying the club in the fingers of your right hand. You should be imagining that your right palm is coinciding with the clubface's angle. In other words, your hand should be square to the angle of the target. Your right thumb and right forefinger should be forming a trigger around the club's grip, almost to the point where you can support the entire weight of the club using just your finger and your thumb. At the same time, you should be bolding your right hand's little finger in any way that you feel is comfortable depending on the style that you are trying to create; the interlocking grip, the baseball grip or the overlapping grip style.

Beyond this, you need to be set for action. It should almost go without saying that if you are pointing the gun in the wrong direction; you cannot expect to hit the desired target. The same rings true when it comes to golfing, as you are not going to consistently hit the desired golf shots if your set up is improper, it simply is not going to work.
