| I purchased the Golflogix GPS instead of the more popular SkyCaddie because the Golflogix is made by Garmin. Obviously, Garmin knows GPS. The unit is actually a re-packaged Garmin eTrex. It is very solid and sturdy. When I bought it I found that three of the courses that I play were not mapped. I requested them and in one week they were available. Fantastic. I have also submitted questions via email and have been answered promptly. The unit is small and easy to use. It will increment holes automatically when I walk to the next hole. Most of the time I do not need to press any buttons. I would definitely recommend Golflogix. |
GolfLogic 2008 Review

I had one of the early models made by SkyCaddie, and this device is far superior. It's easier to use, holds 20 downloaded courses (as opposed to 10), finds the course you are at (as opposed to scrolling through a list), is waterproof (as opposed to water resistant), cost far less to get a one year membership to downloadable courses, and turns on in seconds with distances (as opposed to minutes). The 2008 model measures the distance from your last shot so you can tell how far you are hitting each club.
It's very easy to use. Just turn it on. I had no trouble downloading the courses, and I am a Mac user with the Mac Leopard operating system. The Garmin algorithn for finding distances is quick and accurate.
I really like it and can't imaging playing golf without it! |

| I have used this item for several rounds of golf. It is very easy to use. Seems much easier to work than the Skycaddie. They both will give you the same information but this one is easier to read and operate. The customer service at Golflogix is tops also. |

| I recieved my GolfLogix GPS a week ago and took it to our local course to give it a try. My friends had a "SkyCaddie" and I wanted a Garmin product as I also have a Garmin Street Pilot 330c GPS. I was extremely disappointed in the Golflogix as it was really giving strange readings that were way off. I finally shut it off and went ahead and finished my golf game. I went home aroung 5:30pm and e-mailed GolfLogix and told them what had happened. To make a long story short I recieved an e-mail within 2 hours as to what had happened. They explained that some changes on the golf course had been made since they had mapped it. Well in that span of 2 hours they had remapped it and published it. I re-loaded the update and tried it out last night. It worked great, very accurate, couldn't ask for anything to work better than it did. I have e-mailed GolfLogig 3 other times and their response was always answered well and fast. WAY TO GO GolfLogix, very refreshing for that kind of service in this day and age. |
Highly recommend this product

I've had my Garmin for a couple of weeks now and it's fabulous knowing accurate yardages (even when you need to play up an adjacent hole!)
I was undecided on the Garmin Golf Logix vs Sky Caddy choice, but went with the Garmin for their ease of use, customer support (I've heard it's very poor with Sky Caddy), and price.
I like that it's powered by 2 AA batteries (easy replacement of battery mid round (though I've played 4 rounds and the originals are still going strong)
It would be nice if you could track your last shot yardage and still toggle to the green/hazard yardage info to help your buddies (right now, it's one or the other option, not both), but for the price, I really feel I made the right choice. |

| Very please with my purchase. The Garmin GPS works as advertise, all I have to do is turn it on and it recognizes which course I am on. You can download 20 courses. It gives accurate yardages front, center and back of green and to doglegs and hazards. My favorite feature is measuring yardage of tee shots. I don't want to play without it. |

I purchased the GPS-7 in March 2008 from Amazon. I registered the device and paid the $30 annual fee. A few days later, Golflogix announced the GPS-8. I was a little unhappy about that since I hadn't even had the chance to evaluate it. I emailed Golflogix and told them of my situation. They offered me a credit toward the GPS-8. The GPS-8 had a few additional features that I thought were worth the upgrade. So, I used the credit and upgraded. When I tried to upload my home course to the GPS-8, the software wouldn't recognize the new device. Each account is linked to a specific device. I asked if my old account could be transferred to the new device. Unfortunately, it couldn't. I had to cancel my subscription for the GPS-7 and pay another $30 for the GPS-8. The good news is that Golflogix credited me one of annual subscription charges. I have to say that Golflogix has EXCEPTIONAL customer service. Now, on to the review...
I have used the GPS-8 a few times now and can say that I really enjoy using it. It has been extremely helpful on the course with determining distances to hazards and other points on the golf course. I think this is more useful than a laser rangefinder since a laser rangefinder requires you to be able to see your target to measure it and sometimes requires you to have a very steady hand. The GPS-8 will tell you the distance to hazards from anywhere without a direct line of sight and without any effort. All of the features of the GPS-8 that are described on their website work and I have not had any issues except one: battery life. I get about 2-3 rounds/set of AA batteries. Obviously, longer battery life is better. The good thing is that the GPS-8 uses common AA batteries and not a proprietary battery pack. Just keep a spare set of AA batteries in your golf bag and you're good to go. With consistent use, the GPS-8 could easily help lower one's handicap and is an indispensible tool for course management. |

I bought my Garmin GPS last year. It has been a wonderful help in all the traveling I do. Last week I bought a Golflogix on Amazon and used it on Thursday. I played in a foursome with a man who had a sky caddi. we went toe to toe on the front nine comparing yardages. There was never more than 3 yards + or - differance. Then his battery went dead with no way to recharge. Advantage GolfLogix. Also unlimited downloads for $29.00 in the United States is great. Again advantage Golflogix. Finally, the price. The cheapest I found a new Sky Caddie was $259.00 plus handling. It looked like the cheaper version(less features I guess). I payed $180.00 including handling. The drawbacks are no shoing of the shape of the green, however the coures I play I am either familiar withe the green shape or the score card shows the shape. It also does not have last shot rememberance, but I understand that a new model is coming out that will have that feature and other features such a holding up to 20 courses. Also software up dates will be available to those who have the older models. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

| My wife bought me this as a present, because we have had such good luck with our Garmin Nuvi GPS unit. This is absolutely what you want in a golf gps unit. I kept amazing my playing partners by showing them that the readings on the golflogix matched the marked sprinkler heads exactly (and also gave readings to the front and back of the greens). The most important design feature is that you don't have to push any buttons. You just look at the screen, and it tells you what you need to know. Basically, it gives you 3 distances from the tee, such as the front and rear of bunkers, water, etc. As you move forward, it automatically gives you the distance to the green. If you wish, you do have the ability to scroll forward and see the distance to the green from the tee. Granted, there are other units that offer more information, if you are willing to spend the time aiming the crosshairs, etc. But, if like me, you just want to know your distance (without delay), golflogix is an excellent choice. |

Have had mine for about 6 weeks. Brought it from Amazon at a great price. It has worked flawlessly. It is easy on standard AA batteries. As others have mentioned, Garmin knows GPS and this is a standard Garmin device with Golf software loaded on it. It is durable, accurate, and great to use. If there's a dogleg on the hole, it tells you how far to the dogleg. If there's a hazard, it tells you how far to the front of the hazard and how far to the other side. If there's a tree in the fairway, it tells you how far it is to the tree. It tells you the distances to the front, center, and back of each green. Displays are intuitive and scrolling is very user friendly. I am completely satisfied.
It's now September (bought it in Feb) and I wanted to confirm that this has been a great product. I have no complaints.
Another update: have now had if for 15 months. It's performance has been flawless. The graphics are rudimentary (it just gives the distances in yards to the green, hazards, bunker, etc.) but who needs "cool" graphics when it's so reliable? There was a course missing from the library that I needed. I had the first version within 90 days, but it continues to be refined as I get new updates. I'm a totally satisfied customer. |

| I have been evaluating all of the golf GPS systems available. I purchased this item precisely because it was made by Garmin. It is easy to use, gives me accurate yardage to every point on the course that I need, distance to hazards, lay up distances, and accurate front, center, and back of green. Really helps when I play a new course or one I haven't played often. I use it on my home course as well, and it's a tremendous help in club selection. Highly recommended, and a bargain. |

| I just got this unit and today for the first time I used it and was very happy with it. This unit is so darn easy to use, pretty much just turn it on and play golf. I like the way it advances to the next hole without having to do anything to the unit. Yardages to the greens and other reference points seemed to be right on. I loaded my home course o this unit and like the way that is always telling you the yardages. I had a lazer rangfinder before and it was hard to pick a target and I am not good enough to need to know if it is 127 yards 120 to the middle or 135 to the back is fine for me. I was supprized on how much I like this thing. |
Excellent GPS - Very happy with this Unit

When I retired some time ago I purchased a new set of clubs, bag, cart, Bushnell 1500 and the Sky Caddie. Recently purchase the latest Golflogic 2008 model and was up and running in 15 minutes with 20 courses of my choice.
Advantages over the Sky Caddie:
Batteries. I carry four extra in my bag for the Golflogix and in the past I have forgotten to charge up the Sky Caddie and it went dead half way through my round.
The Sky Caddie is slow and you have to scroll through to select your course. The Golflogix selects the course and hole you are on when you turn it on. A very nice feature.
Feel better about this unit being water proof. With the Sky caddie I purchased a waterproof bag container for the rainy days. (Which we get in Vancouver).
One yearly fee and you download 20 courses anywhere. With the Sky caddie I had to pay additional fee's to download one course I go to in Wa.
Big Bright view. I am sure this is because of the new technology. I would think the latest Sky Caddie would be bright as well.
Con to the Golflogix over the Sky Caddie
You cannot map your own course with the Golflogix as you can with the Sky Caddie. If your course is not on the list to download you could map it yourself. As I purchased the Sky Caddie at the beginning I had to map a few of the courses myself. You cannot map your own course with the Golflogix.
I attach both to my Sun Mountain cart. My buddies like to know their distance to the pin and I always have the unit on distance of my shot when I advance after hitting my ball. This way I have the best of both worlds.
I use the Bushnell 1500 with the slope as well. Sometimes you just want to know the distance to trees,,,landing area, the flag,,,downhill or uphill shots (This makes a difference as it compensates for the addition or subtraction of the distance).
With all these toys you would think it would improve my golf game, ha ha...well my skill level needs improvement however I love to know how far I hit my shots,,,how far I need to hit them,,,,it makes my day a lot more relaxed and sometimes I hit the shot of the day.....
If you are reading this review I would like to put a plug in for Sun Mountain. I purchased the C130 bag, the V2 cart, and the cooler bag. The umbrella fits into the top of the cart and you can easily get under it without bending over. I am 6'1" and am very happy with the set up.
Upon retirement as mentioned I purchased a complete set of clubs. In hindsight I would go to a professional shop and have the clubs made for my body, swing, speed etc.
The Golflogix GPS 2008 Model is a winner!
Hope this review helps

This GPS device works better than all others on the market (I've seen them all). The information is very accurate so I don't have to worry about the club I intend to use for an approach shot. The device is simple to operate.
It is very portable. And I don't have to worry about recharging the batteries (I just carry spares).

During my initial round at my home course, the yardages were off some. I called GolfLogix, they re-mapped the course and sent me an e-mail telling me the re-mapped course was available. I downloaded the new mapping and every distance I've checked thus far is dead-on. This is going to be fun.
The unit itself has a very sturdy feel and is easy to use. Their customer service was excellent. |

I got my golflogix 04-16-08.
I had a small learning curve to download (Windows xp)the program and entered 20 courses.
Pros: Every yardage marker on the screen was spot on.I have an index of 14.8 and I usually shoot a 88 to 85.
I used it for the first time today (04-17-08) and was hot off the first tee. Maybe it was because I could relax knowing the golf logix would tell me my ranges, but my score told the story. My freinds were in shock that I beat guys whom have been playing for years. I just started 3yrs ago.
Cons: It does not give your yardages to trees, only bunkers and water. I had to purchase the 29.95 package or the system would not let me advance.(Maybe I was doing something wrong, but over all great product. Amazon delivered in 4days.
Thanks.

I purchased this product after admiring one owned by a fellow golfer. I paid about 40% less than her by buying last year's model. This has all the same features. It is great to have the yardages to the hazards and to the greens, without having to hunt for markers or sprinkler heads on the golf course. It makes club selection much easier. I wouldn't go golfing without it.
The gadget holds information for ten courses at a time, which you download from your computer. The only downside is that when you go somewhere new, you have to remember to load the course from your computer. This has to be done from a computer which has the software on it. So plan ahead.
All in all, a great addition to my golf bag. |

| I spent considerable time reviewing all the available GPS units out on the market. Granted, the old saying that you get what you pay for, applies here also. The devices in the $4-500 dollar range were full of extras but I was looking for something that would fit my budget and suit my needs. Without question, the Golflogix does just that. One of the big factors in my decision to buy this unit was my far sightedness. I just didn't want to wear my glasses to read the numbers that were very small on a number of the other devices. Golflogix's big number display is perfect. No glasses needed as the numbers are large enough to read without problem. I have used it on about 8 courses so far and the yardage is right on compared to the courses that have cart GPS. It's simple and gives you the yardage to the hazards and to the green without doing anything, gives me more time to try to hit the ball straight! The only complaint I have so far is the belt clip broke after just two rounds. I ordered a couple of new ones so I will see how they work. The first of batteries lasted about 3 rounds but I recently purchased re-chargables so that won't be a problem. I would recommend the Golflogix to anyone who wants a simple, easy to use GPS that has a very affordable price. |
