Honor - This refers to receiving the honor of teeing off first on a specific hole. The honor goes to the winner of the prior hole, or in the case of a tie, the last hole that had a winner. On the first hole of the course, a coin flip is used to determine which player will go first.
Hook - This is a shot that flies with a curve opposite the player's main hand. Right to left with a right handed player, and left to right for a a left handed one.
Hosel - The hosel is a hollow portion of an iron club's head, this is where the shaft of the club fits into the head.
In - This refers to the second half of a golf course. The reason they are referred to as in is that playing the last nine holes the player is gradually moving inwards to the clubhouse as they progress through them.
In Play - As soon as a stroke has been made from the tee, a ball is considered to be in play. With a few exceptions the ball will remain in play until the time that it has been holed out. Some of the exceptions to this include lost balls, when they are lifted, balls hit out of bounds, or when the rules call for a ball to be replaced.
Inside - This refers to closet ball to the hole at a given time, and to the player who hit it. Away is the opposite term.
Interlocking Grip - This is a method of holding the club in which the pinky finger of the opposite hand is crossed with the index finger of the main hand.
In the Leather - This term refers to a ball that has come to a stop so close to the hole that the distance to the hole is shorter than the length of the leather grip on a golf club. Shots considered to be in the leather are often conceded in informal games.
Iron - This is a golf club that has a head that is made of metal. The numbering of the club indicates the amount of loft and the size of the club. A 1 iron is the smallest and least lofted of the numbered irons, and the 9 iron is the largest and most lofted of the numbered irons. There is also the wedge which is larger and more lofted than the 9 iron, and is also considered to be an iron.
Jigger - This is a narrow bladed iron that is now considered to be obsolete, the modern 4 iron has a similar loft to a jigger.
Jungle - Jungle is a term for particularly overgrown areas of the rough.
