Flat Swing - This is a type of swing that is made with the club swung back while being kept low to the ground, usually starting from the inside and moving outwards, which makes this type of swing likely to hook to the side.
Flex - This is the flex of a golf club is the measurement of how much bend the shaft is capable of.
Flier - A flier is described as a shot that has at most a small amount of spin on it that flies farther that a normal shot would.
Flier Lie - This term is referring to a shot that lands in a good position for being in the rough, for example on a tuft of grass or in a patch of clover.
Flight - A flight is a described as grouping of players that are around the same skill level within a tournament, generally, a flight consists of 16 players.
Flip Shot - This is described as a steep shot that travels only a short distance. This shot usually is made with an iron that has a high loft to it.
Flub - This is a poorly made shot that is usually caused by the club striking the ground mid-swing.
Follow-Through - This is described as being the section of a swing that happens after the club has struck the ball.
Fore - This is described as being a yelled warning to alert anyone who may be in the ball's flight path.
Forecaddie - This is described as being someone that is employed either by a tournament or golf course who is responsible for finding and making note of where a player's ball has landed.
Four-Ball - This is described as being a type of match between four players split into two teams. In this style of game only the better scores of each team are counted. Best ball is another name for this type of game.
Foursome - This is described as being another type of four player match with the players split into two teams. In a foursome each team only has one ball which the players alternate on each swing. This term is commonly used to describe four-ball. The term can also refer to a round of golf played by four players.
Free Drop - This is described as being when a drop does not require a penalty stroke.
Fried Egg - A plugged lie can also be described as being this name.
Fringe - The apron is also known as the fringe.
Frog Hair - This is a term for the short grass that borders the green's edge.
Front Nine - This is described as being another name for the first half on a course of 18 holes.
