Golf Club Fundamentals

For anyone who is unassociated with golf, it may seem absurd to have a need for fourteen different clubs that all appear to be similar to one another. Yet as you begin to play the game, you will begin to notice that each of these seemingly similar golf clubs actually has its own unique purposes, and instances where it is the ideal club compared to the others in your bag. Each of these unique golf clubs will come in handy rather frequently throughout your game play.

This will be a basic look at the most fundamental information that you could possibly want to know about golf clubs and their individual purposes. Once you have a better comprehension of the fundamental ideas behind each club, you can go on to begin to perfect your swing, winning an increasing number of games because you will be utilizing the right golf clubs for the right purposes.

The first golf club to understand is known as a wood.

These clubs are not crafted from wood, despite what their name may suggest. Woods are constructed from steel, titanium or some other vacuous type of metal. They have been configured in order to provide the best possible distance with every shot that you make. The woods represent less than fifty percent of the fourteen clubs in a regular set, and they are most commonly used on areas of the golf course that are long and flat because they provide excellent length with semi-decent exactness. If you want to keep a ball on a direct path using woods, however, some practice and skill will be necessary. Woods are easy to identify because they are the tallest clubs in your golf bag.

The next type of golf clubs is the iron, which is the club which is used most during a regular game.

These particular golf clubs are quite flexible in comparison to the other types of clubs, and for this reason, they tend to make up a larger number of the clubs found in your bag. They can also reach reasonably distant places, though not nearly the length that the woods can achieve. You are generally going to be able to achieve a much higher degree of exactness with these clubs, depending on which iron you employ of course. Some irons have very specific applications, so there are irons designed for most purposes such as getting the ball over an obstruction or sneaking out of a bunker.

The final golf club is the putter, which should only be required in singular form within your golf bag.

These are employed in the last part of the course, which is the putting green, as well as in other areas where fine spun exactness is absolutely required. These clubs are intended to give the smallest amount of length and the greatest amount of exactness. With a putter you can lightly tap a ball to send it into the hole at the very end of the course, but this is still the most crucial part of the golf game which is why having a decent putter and training with it is absolutely vital.
