| Take the guess-work out of your golf game with the Golf Buddy Pro, a true GPS unit with automatic course and hole recognition. It comes preloaded with all available courses in North America--no annual or course download fees required--and has a storage capability of up to 20,000 courses for adding more courses from all over the world. The GolfBuddy's large, easy-to-read screen gives you the exact distance to greens, bunkers, lakes, lay-up points, and hazards. Other features include a lithium-polymer rechargeable battery with AAA battery backup, a score tracking module, target icon screen with one-hole positioning, waterproof design, and multi-lingual display. The Golf Buddy features a dynamic green view that changes the shape of the green, depending on your angle of approach. With its automatic course and hole recognition feature, there's no need for aiming or manual operation to obtain distance information to the green.
All distances are provided simultaneously from any direction as you approach the green. You can then frame your shot in a much larger target area and select the best club.. |
As you move to the tee box, the GolfBuddy automatically displays the course name, hole number, par, and distance remaining to the green.. | |

I bought the unit, took it home, charged it up, turned it on, it works.
The following day I went to the golf course, turned it on. The unit found the golf course I Was going to play, but with another golf course info. Played with it trying to get the correct info, got frustrated and turned it off.
When I got home, I turned on the computer, went to the Golf Buddy website. Followed the instructions, plugged in the Golf Buddy and registered the unit.
The next day I went to the same golf course, and turned on the unit. The unit found the golf course and the correct tees, hooray!!!! I recommend registering the unit first.
The Golf Buddy works as stated. No monthly or yearly fees, and all my golfing friends want to use it, I have to take it away from them so I can use it. I Highly recommend this Unit.
Have used it at 3 golf courses in San Jose and 3 in Temecula, and it works great. |
20,000 course capacity, auto course & hole recognition

I did a lot of research on all the golf GPS units on the market and chose the GolfBuddy Pro because of its huge 20,000 course capacity, automatic course and hole recognition, ease of use, reasonable price, and lack of a subscription fee. They currently have about 12,000 courses mapped in the U.S. and another 4,000 outside the U.S. They don't have as many courses mapped as SkyCaddie or iGolf, but I've noticed they have been adding courses quickly. Most of the courses I had been looking for were already mapped and most of the ones that weren't were added within 3 wks. The GolfBuddy takes about 2 minutes to lock onto the satellites and 1-2 minutes to bring up the course and hole automatically. I turn it on when I approach the clubhouse and it's ready to go on the first hole. Once I discovered that it takes about 5 seconds for the distance to stabilize after you stop walking, the unit's accuracy has been quite good. I tested the accuracy against the 150 yd marker on 8 holes and found it to be within 3 yds on 6 of those holes and within 5 yds on all 8. Most holes already have all the important targets mapped, but it's easy to add your own targets if needed (e.g. distance to doglegs). I love the shot distance feature, which requires the push of just one button. It's really useful to know how far I hit each club.

| golf buddy pro works well. I like the feature that it just finds the course you are playing automatically, doesn't require the course to be downloaded by the owner prior to use and doesn't require an annual fee to use any of the courses that it offers. Would recommend this product to anyine. |

Let me start out by saying that I did a lot of on-line research; talked to numerous golfing friends and talked to the guys in the stores before I bought the Golf Buddy. I decided on the Golf Buddy primarily because I didnt want to pay a yearly maintenance fee and all of the courses I wanted to play were already in their database. I've used the device 3 times so far (on 3 different courses) and its definitely worked as advertised. The first time I used it I was out of state and actually played a course where the carts had GPS built into them. The GB tracked within 1-3 yards of the cart GPS throughout the round. On one of the other rounds I played with a guy who had one of the iGolf GPS devices and we checked the distances with each other throughout the round. The units were always within 1-2 yards of each other. The screen was easy to see and battery life is excellent. I played two rounds and still had about 1/3 of the battery life left before I charged it again. From a durability perspective the unit has been dropped twice so far...once on concrete (ouch!) but kept right on working.
My buying experience went perfectly. The unit arrived on time, packaging was good and it worked right out of the box.
Cons: Size of the units. Even with the belt clip the unit is too thick for my taste so I carry it in my golf bag. This is probably just a personal preference. |

| what a buy! No course downloads via the computer. no fees! it started as soon as I charged it and faced it to the sky and linked with the satellite. Took at least 5 strokes off my score on the first usage. I would have used one club, but with the golfbuddy it changed by choice and it was right on the money. Can't wait to get back on the course for another try. Really speeds up play. Great product! |

| This is a great device to aid you in deciding what club to use. It determines distances, by GPS, to center, front and back of greens, front and back of hazards, etc. You can also keep score with it. It automatically recognizes the course you are playing (even the hole you are on), as it has 20,000 courses loaded worldwide. The best part is, there are no annual subscription fees. You can also check what courses are loaded by going to their website[...]. I highly recommend this product. |
Love our Golf Buddy!

This has shown us several places on our home course that are marked wrong. One hole was off by 10 yards all the way through. It give you plenty of information and you can add information on a course you play a lot. The courses are preloaded, you just turn it on and you are good to go. It has 20000 courses in the files so most anything you will pay is already in there. There are other courses you can get form the web site. A charge seems to last two rounds, we have not tried the third round without a charge.
I think this is the best deal of all the GPS units. |
Golf Buddy Pro took 8 strokes off my 1st round

After several research sessions I chose the golf buddy over Laser range finders, Golf Logix, Skycaddie models. I'm a recreational golfer that always wonders,"Is this the club?". The first time I used the Golf Buddy my approach shots were right on...the green!...For me, Golf Buddy took the guess work out of what club to use. I think I made more confident, committed shots when I knew the distance.
Course support is excellent...and FREE...easy to access online and download. Battery life lives up to the manual's promise. No fancy graphics, but gets the job done. |
She's one Happy Birthday Girl!

This was a purchase made by my sister-in-law's brothers in honor of her 70th birthday(No-I did not make an error).
I have not seen anyone so totally surprised and excited in years!
And the wonderful thing is that the Golf Buddy Pro GPS Range Finder performed as advertised. The first time she used it she stepped out of the cart looked at her gift and it was already working.
It can store up to 20,000 courses and is loaded with every course in the United States.
I thought, I don't think so, but she was at a nine hole course in Salt Lake City and Wow, there it was on the screen.
She had already used it for many courses in Palm Springs,CA where it worked beautifully.
If you are thinking of buying a range finder either for yourself or for a gift don't wait!
The sooner you get it, the more happy golf days you'll have.
Just ask Mary.

I bought the Golfbuddy GPS pro model and the first time I pulled it out of the box, it didn't have the course I was at. I was a little upset but read in the manual it's a good idea to update it when it's first opened. Once I updated it, which is very easy, I have not had a course show up yet. GPS is very easy to use. No monthly fees which is nice.
Played with a buddy that had the SkyCaddie and iGolf and yardage was about same as all three were different but within a yard. Most of us are not good enough for a yard to affect your play so it's wonderful.
Shot distance is a nice feature as well. You can use it for any club.
I love this product. |

Unhappy experience with Amazon shopping

Product is fine, Horrible experience with Amazon, no financial savings whatsoever. Delivery was late. Could have bought same product at retail outlets such as Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy for the same price. Would have had product same day, no shipping charges etc.
Delivery of protective leather case took two weeks.
I will never use Amazon again.

| I purchased this product for a golf trip to New Mexico. It worked like a charm as you don't need to download courses. Show up on the course and it finds your location immediately. The only negative is the moving of the curser on the green to show pin location. Takes too long to move! |
Good product, just a bad apple

| I purchased the Golf Buddy pro and it did what it was supposed to do. The only negatives were that it lost itself several times during the round and the toggle switch would not function properly. I returned this unit and then purchased another one exactly like it and I have not had any problems whatsoever. The first unit was obviously defective. This is a good product for getting yardages on a golf course and it will help make club selection easier. |

| This product works as I thought it would, the weakness is in the manual. It could have been written much clearer than it was. You must take it to a golf course and try all the features. You must also learn to connect it to your computer and go to the Golf Buddy site and download a program to your computer. This is also not explained very well in the "users book". All and all it's a good product. |

| Works very well so far but not perfect. I have found that every so often it drops the fairway. You need to go back and change the hole to the one your on (three times a round). Another thing is to be sure and update your GPS at the website (Its free, lots of updates). Overall It has really helped my game and I am happy with the unit. I would recommend it compared to having a monthly or annual membership. It really is a very good deal for the price. It does everything that Gof Buddy advertises. Just turn it on when you get to the course and it will find you..Very very user friendly. |
