Here is a continuation on the golf term glossary that we have been working on for a little while now.
Center Shafted - This describes a putter where the shaft is attached not on either side of the head but in the center instead.
Charge - To charge describes to come from the behind in order to win a tournament by way of aggressive playing.
Chili-Dip - This is a shot where the heat of the club hits the ground before it hits the ball, and the result is typically a weak and lofted shot.
Chip and Run - This is a chip shot that is typically hit from just off of the green, where the ball rolls over a considerable distance in the direction of the hole after it lands.
Chip Shot - This is a shot with a short approach and a low trajectory that is typically hit with some amount of backspin or topspin.
Chip In - This involves hitting a chip shot into the desired hole.
Choke - This involves gripping the club further down on the handle than you normally would.
Chop - This means to hit down toward the ball using a short and hacking motion in order to supply an extra amount of spin.
Cleat - This is a spike on the bottom of a golf shoe.
Cleek - This used to be an iron with narrow blades that was intended to be used for longer shots from the sand or rough, though the name is sometimes applied to the 1 iron or the 4 wood.
Closed Face - This is the club face position when the club is pointed just slightly toward the left of the intended target.
Closed Stance - This is the stance where the left foot is extending over the line of flight of the ball, and is the opposite of the player's open stance.
Club - This is the instrument that is used in order to strike the ball in golf. It has a few basic components, which include the shaft, the grip and the head. The word club may also be used to describe an association or an organization of golfers.
Club House - This is the main building located on a golf course, and it typically houses meeting rooms, lockers, restaurants and additional other facilities as well.
Club House Lawyer - This is a self appointed arbiter that seems to believe he knows the rules, but that typically does not understand the rules quite as well as he believes that he does.
Club Professional - This is a professional that works as a teacher and an equipment supplier for a golf club, and only plays in local golf events.
Cock - This means bending the wrists during the backswing in the preparation of bringing the club back forward again.
