Fazar Takes the St. Jude Classic for First PGA Tour Title

Sunday was a day for new beginnings on the links at the St. Jude Classic. This is where Herrison Frazar was able to put his name on the top of the leader board for the first time in his career. No stranger to the PGA tour, Frazar has missed out on a win in 355 other tournaments that he has competed in. This is what he hopes might be a turning point in his career so that he will be able to start winning more of the titles which will help to keep him in the spotlight for more than just the moment.

To get the win, Frazar had to battle it out with Robert Karlsson for the win. The end of the tournament might have been determined by a missed putt by Karlsson, but there was a lot which lead up to the victory. Every loss was a learning opportunity about the different courses as well as about his abilities on the course. Frazar won this title just before turning 40 to make the win that much more exciting for him.

Frazar was once the roommate of Justin Leonard when he attended school in Texas. He might have picked up a few points in his stay with him, but the biggest lessons that he learned where right on the links alongside many of the different major players which kept making sure that he would not be able to enjoy his moment at the top.

The $1,008,000 purse was not easily won. In fact, it looked like he might once again miss his chance whenever Karlsson stayed even with him due to a bogey on the 72nd hole. He was able to clutch the win by evening things back up with superior playing after that point. His final score for the tournament was a 267 with his final day ending 3 below par. This was just enough to secure the win over Karlsson who ended with a 68 for the day.

Frazar was not even sure what to do with himself once he went through the rituals of the win. He was not sure what to do with the trophy or the seersucker jacket once he got them. While he was able to figure it out in the end, it is hoped that this will not be the only time that you will have to worry about what to do with the prizes that he gets as a winner,

The Memphis tournament was visited be many great players even though there have been some grumblings by fans who do not know many of the names of the tournament. It is good to know that there are time in which the golfing world can be turned on its ear and some of the great players who have been waiting in the wings for their moment at center stage have been able to get the opportunity to shine. This is a trend which will be great if it is able to persist.
