Course History:

Cypress Ridge is a Peter Jacobsen signature course that is both stunning and a lot of fun to play. Thanks to the design techniques that were implemented and the methods used to ensure that the course would not disturb the area wildlife, the Audubon Society has awarded them their certification as a Sanctuary. This is a great place for a relaxing round of golf.

What You Need to Know:

Please note that metal spikes are not allowed at this facility. They do not state a specific dress code, but we do recommend traditional golf attire and no denim. You can register your tee-time by calling the number above, but they also feature an online system as well. You can take advantage of some great deals if you check their website before registering your time.

The pro shop here was simply terrific and offered a lot of hard to find merchandise. We were also impressed with the Pavilion, which is rented out for events, and the grill. Overall, this is a great course that offers just the right amount of challenging play and some great accommodations for after the game.

Playing Hints:

This isn't a terribly hard course, but you'll still need to bring your best game if you want to do well. There are two large water hazards and a few small ones, but with careful aim, they should not affect your round too much. The first hole is a dog leg to the right, so you'll want to make sure your tee shot goes a little to the left.

The main thing to worry about here are the trees. The fairways can be a bit narrow and one wrong shot will put you smack dab in a virtual forest. We recommend working on your accuracy before you arrive so that you'll be able to steer your ball without any problems.

Our favorite hole was the twelfth, and it is a bit tough at first. The fairways undulate and it can be difficult to get out of the little valleys if you're not careful. The green is protected by two very deep bunkers, so you'll want to approach this one head on and make sure you hit it as straight as possible.
