Choosing the Right Ball pt 1
December 19th, 2011 | Golf Ball Driver, golf balls
Choosing the right golf ball is critical if you are trying to cut down on your golf handicap. Choosing the right ball is going to impact the results of your game almost as much as choosing the right golf clubs, meaning that it is vitally important for you to choose the golf ball that is right for you. There are six basic steps that go into choosing the correct type of golf ball for your needs, and once you know and understand this process, you can ensure that the balls you choose are going to best suit you game after game. Stop choosing the cheap balls, the pretty balls or the brand name balls if you do not actually understand what choosing those golf balls is doing for your game. Instead, consider the following six step approach to choosing the proper golf ball for your needs and the improvement of your own personal game.
Today there is simply an easier approach to choosing a golf ball, which is based on going from the green back. This is proving to be a much more appropriate method for choosing a golf ball. Let us take a look:
1 - First and foremost, you are going to want to define your needs.
There are three steps to this particular process. The first thing that you want to do is to assess your game. The second thing that you want to do is to define your individual needs. The third thing that you want to do is to decide what you do and do not want from a golf ball. Defining your individual and personal needs is absolutely crucial to selecting the right golf ball.
Keep in mind that not everybody is going to have the same swing speed, ball striking ability or golf handicap and even those that do are not always going to be playing the same type of golf ball. You need to ask yourself some important questions regarding your playing style and needs. Are you trying to achieve more distance? Are you trying to achieve a greater level of control over your ball?
2 - Next, you are going to want to choose a test ball.
You should be selecting several different types of balls that you are interested in testing based on the needs that you defined in the previous step. You should try to select at least one test ball from each type of category including multi layered balls, two piece balls, low compression balls and super soft balls. You want to see how each of these types of balls tests. Not every model of the same type of ball is going to react the same, so do not be afraid to try out a few different options to see what is available to you.
