Most amateur golf players look for a regular flex shaft or a soft flex shaft. There are also a number of different shaft materials that can be chosen. Steel tends to remain to be the preferred choice, but many golfers are now beginning to choose graphite as a material for their club shafts because it offers significant benefits at a greater price, however. Graphite is lighter than steel, but it is also quite stronger, and so it enables the golf club manufacturers to concentrate more of the mass of the club in the club head, which is where it is needed the most.
When it comes to putters, know that putting is open to more personal interpretation than any other detail, facet or aspect of the golf game. Putters are appropriately known as being a game within a game for this very reason. For this purpose, it should really come as no surprise to you that the putter comes in a seemingly constantly growing selection of designs and styles. The putter was originally the most plain club in the golf bag but now it is anything but that.
Choosing a putter is a matter of personal trial and error more than any other type of club, and it has a lot to do with experience and feel. Most modern types of putter designs have their weight distributed evenly across the entire clubface. Many of them have a kink embedded in their shaft just above the head as a method of encouraging your hands to properly lead the ball. Putting tends to be a rather unpredictable art in the best of times, and golfers that stick to one design of club for numerous years may suddenly decide to change their design when their form is suddenly no longer working for them.
It really is worthwhile to try out different putters until you are completely satisfied with the one that you are playing with, because every size, shape and design is completely different in what it offers and who its benefits are offered to. If you are unsure about which putter is going to best serve your needs, then trial and error with a wide variety of different types and brands of putters is likely going to be your best bet. Just realize that having a bad experience with one type of putter is not the end of the world, you simply have to be willing to move on to a new club, trying different clubs out until you find the right one for you. Choosing the right putter means feeling comfortable with it, being satisfied with the results it creates, and feeling confident when using it.
Choosing your clubs is one of the most important aspects of golfing properly, but there are other pieces of gear that will impact your game as well. Just as important as your clubs are to your success on the course, so is using the right ball.
