Course History:
Oak Quarry Golf Course is a newer course that was opened to rave reviews in 2000. It was built by Dr. Gil Morgan/Schmidt Curley Designs, and quickly became one of the most popular courses in this area. The course is located in the Jurapa Mountains and offers a truly rugged beauty, challenging play and some great facilities. Although their rates are very reasonable, they do offer a special membership plan which we'll go into more detail about below.
What You Need to Know:
You can book your tee time by calling the number listed above. Although their website lists special deals on green fees, they do not have an online registration option at this time. Please note that the club does have a dress code. All players must wear collared shirts and appropriate attire. Denim is strictly prohibited and the management prefers soft spikes only.
We found that this club, even though it is public, had all the amenities and features of a private club. The restaurant was simply terrific and it was a great place to relax in after a tough round of golf. We liked the pro shop, and found that the staff was very helpful and the stock was great. A very wide variety of merchandise and brand names can be found there.
Playing Tips:
This is a great course that is very challenging but a lot of fun to play. You'll need to utilize the cart, especially if you're not in the best of shape. Mountain courses are always our favorites and this one was no exception. You'll be able to enjoy a truly great game while you're here.
The course is known for its changes in elevation, so you will need to work hard on long drives and accuracy. There are times when you really can't tell where you are going, so you will want to study the score card carefully before going out. You'll be dealing with multiple water hazards, as well as incredible rock formations and the natural terrain. This is a course that you really can't master with one round, but it's really fun to come back and try it again.
