Course History:

This course was founded in 1952 and was designed for golfers that prefer a shorter game that is fun and not incredibly challenging. Most of the players here are women or seniors, but it is still well suited for a professional that just wants to brush up their game. The course has very narrow fairways so accuracy is definitely key.

What You Need to Know:

You can book your tee time by calling the number above, but at this time they do not have online tee times. However, they do offer specials on their website so we do recommend checking there first before you call. Although the prices are already quite low, you can save even more money.

This is a municipal course, so the dress code isn't as severe. However, we still recommend traditional golf attire and no denim. The course does not state whether they are a soft spike facility but we recommend these spikes just in case.

The pro shop is fantastic and is a licensed Titelist and Ping club fitter. The onsite grill has terrific food and can even provide a boxed lunch for your game. The clubhouse is a great place to relax after a game.

Playing Hints:

Although this is an easier course than some, you'll still need to be on your toes. The greens are very short, so working on your putting game is a good idea before you arrive. By the end of a round, you'll probably be a whole lot better at it since these do offer a bit of a challenge.

The first hole looks very easy, but you'll be shooting over the trees to make it to the green. We recommend a very strong tee shot to get the best results on this hole. The eighth hole is a double dog leg, and can be quite a fun challenge. Try to stay as close to the center of the fairway as possible. The tenth hole is considered to be the most challenging one on the entire course and has the reputation as being the narrowest fairway in the area. You'll really want to get a good tee shot to avoid getting stuck in the rough here.

Course History:

This is a course that has won many accolades throughout the year. Most recently they were named one of Golf Digest's Top 100 Courses in America and Ping has designated them as the West Coast Regional Outfitter of the Year. This may be a little course, but it is a lot of fun to play and has a reputation as being one of the best courses in the area.

What You Need to Know:

This is a course that the whole family can enjoy. In addition to the nine hole course there is also a miniature golf area that is actually quite fun. You can reserve your tee time by calling the number above and they frequently post specials on their website.

As you can guess from their distinction as a Ping Outfitter, this course has a terrific pro shop that is stocked to the gills with all the latest golf equipment and merchandise. If you need a new set of clubs, this is the place to go. The Performance Center on the course offers some of the best practice facilities on the West Coast and is worth the trip on its own.

Playing Hints:

Just because this is a nine hole course doesn't mean that it's easy or a walk in the park. You'll really have to work to get a par score here. The fairways are kept in excellent shape, but they are pretty narrow and surrounded by some really nasty rough. You'll really want to work on having an accurate tee shot, no matter what hole you're playing.

The bunkers here are absolutely incredible and most sit right in front of the green. The best one is an enormous creation that will test your skills on the 6^th, 7^th and 8^th holes - it's that big! You'll need to work on your approach shot to make sure you don't end up in it. Once you do, it's practically impossible to get back out.

On the second hole, watch out for the lake hazard. It's got a strong pull and sits right next to the fairway. You're going to want to aim a little to the left from the tee to avoid this one.

Course History:

This gorgeous course was designed by William Bell and is considered to be one of the finest in this area. It was originally built in 1939 as a publics work project and quickly gained popularity throughout the years. They take pride in the fact that the course was built by the public for the public and the course features some of the lowest green fees that you'll find in the area. Even though it's not expensive to play here, the facilities are well in line with more prestigious and expensive courses.

What You Need to Know:

You can register your tee time online or by calling the clubhouse ahead of time. They offer frequent specials on their website, so it's a good idea to keep checking back. The Golf Academy at the course is a great place to learn more about golf and even professionals get help on their swing. This is a favorite among locals and the training is really top notch. The pro shop is fully stocked and the clubhouse is a great place to relax after your game. Overall, this course combines great value with some really nice extras and a terrific round of golf.

Playing Hints:

Most of the holes are pretty straightforward and the course is well suited to both novices and professionals. The fourth hole is a great place to pick up a birdie, since it's a straight shot off the tee and it's a fairly easy hole to master. For the eighth hole, you're going to want to hit the middle of the green if you can, to avoid having to deal with your ball drifting into the rough. This is a great par three and pros should not have a problem birdie-ing this hole either.

For the thirteenth hole, you are going to need to stay as close to the center of the fairway as you can. There is a 100 foot drop off to the left, so try hard to have an accurate shot off the tee. The fifteenth hole is a deceptively easy par three, but be advised that the wind on this hole is your main opponent. Last but not least, the eighteenth hole is a great place to get a birdie and salvage your score if necessary.

Course History:

This is a great course located in one of the best areas to play golf in California. It first opened in 1958, and it's location on the San Joaquin river helps make this one of the prettiest courses in the Fresno area. With just the right level of challenging play, reasonable green fees and a great atmosphere, this is definitely one course to play at least once in your life.

What You Need to Know:

You can register your tee time by calling the number listed above, but you may want to check their website for some extra discounts on fees, just in case. The pro shop here is definitely top notch and we were surprised at just how extensive their inventory was. This may not be the biggest course in the area, but it is definitely one of the friendliest and one that we intend to return to in the future.

You'll want to go with traditional golf attire, and leave the denim at home while you play here. It's not a course that has a lot of rules, but it's always best to err on the side of caution and go with the best type of gear. The staff is incredibly helpful here and if you don't have the right clubs, you can always rent a set at the pro shop before you head out on the course.

Playing Hints:

Our favorite hole was the fifth. Right away, it looks like an easy par four, right up until you realize just how long it is. You'll need to have a good shot off the tee, and really strive for accuracy on this hole. The fifteenth hole is also a bit tricky. On your approach to the green, take care to avoid the sand trap that is guarding it. You won't be able to see it until it's too late, so try a shorter approach shot to give yourself a chance to miss this hazard.

On the seventeenth hole, make sure that you really go short on your approach shot. The back of the green slopes sharply and you’ll end up way over par three on this hole if you’re not careful.
