Course History:
This beautiful course is tucked away in Antelope, CA (we've included directions below) and it is definitely one that area players need to visit at least once. It offers a rare combination of absolute beauty with a great challenge for players of all skill levels. Professionals find that it offers just the right touch of a challenge while novices don't feel overwhelmed. It may take a few tries to master this one, but it's well worth the time.
What You Need to Know:
The course does ask that players observe the usual dress code by wearing a collared shirt and slacks. They do also enforce a pace of play rule, so you won't want to dilly-dally on the course. They have a golfer's creed that we recommend reviewing before you visit the course to see the rest of their regulations.
The club does have a membership policy, but you can find their application right on their site. It's easy enough to join and you get plenty of benefits in exchange. The course is home to numerous events and tournaments throughout the year and it's a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon. The pro shop is well stocked and the club house is a favorite destination for many.
Playing Hints:
The first hole is a deceptive par three that looks easy until you get into the center of it. You're going to want to carefully place your drive to get the best score. The majority of this course is made up of challenging par threes that will make it difficult to get par unless you are very careful. The name of the game is definitely accuracy when you are playing this course.
The par fours are great places to try to make up your score. You'll have plenty of chances for a birdie, especially on holes eight, nine and eleven. These are great places to make up for any damage that was done on the front nine. For the back nine, you'll be dealing with even more par threes, so don't lose your edge. Pay special attention to the eighteenth hole here, it is a real killer.
