Achieving a Long Distance

golfballdriverHitting your ball over long distances is simply a product of having a good golf technique. It is your reward, simply put, for having paid attention to all of the basic fundamentals for a good golf swing. As the legendary golf teacher John Jacobs has often been caught saying, distance is what is achieved through correctly applying club head speed. The following is an exercise that can help you to accentuate some of the most important key factors that will help your ball fly further toward the hole.

Achieving Maximum Distance

1 - One of the most common errors that causes people to lose distance when hitting the ball is when you end up chopping down upon the ball at an angle that is simply much too steep.

2 - In order to prevent this fault or to cure it, what you are going to want to do is to practice hitting drives using a tee peg that is extra high. You can set up using your normal golfing routine, however. The only difference in your set up right now is that you are going to be using a tee that is much higher than the tee that you normally use.

3 - Now what you are going to want to do is to make sure that the club head is kept hovering up off of the ground. If you ended up chopping down too steeply on a ball that was teed so high, then you would actually end up missing the ball all together rather than just hitting it poorly.

4 - Now the extra height is going to encourage you to sweep your club head away from your ball using a shallow arc, and this is going to encourage you to make a swing that is more rounded and less up and down in motion.

5 - Now, not only is this exercise going to help you to coil much more effectively in your backswing, but it is also going to prevent you from becoming much too steep in your downswing, encouraging you instead to actually sweep away the ball.

6 - If you practice this technique time and time again, then you are going to learn how you can go about striking the ball in a much more solid manner, and this is going to produce the desired result, which is allowing you to make the ball travel much further across the fairway.

When you make little tweaks to your golf technique in this manner, the payoff is outstanding. This simple and straight forward technique can truly work wonders in helping you correct your swing so that you can get good distance with your swings rather than losing distance by coming at the ball at too sharp of an angle.
