Aggregate - This is a score that is made by two players who are serving as partners, or over the span of more than a single round of play.

Airball - This is a swing that does not make contact with the golf ball.

Albatross - This is an obsolete word that was once used to describe a double eagle.

Automatic - This describes an easy put.

Away - This describes the ball that is furthest from the hole, or whichever golfer the ball belongs to. The golfer that is the furthest away will shoot first in the next round.

Back Door - This is the rear side of the hole. When a put goes around the actual hole and then drops in at the back, it is said to be back doored.

Back Lip - This is the bunker's edge that is the furthest from the hole.

Back Nine - This is the second set of 9 holes when you are playing on a course of 18 holes.

Baffy - This is an obsolete 5-wood that has the loft of a 3 iron or a 4 iron. Sometimes this term is applied to the 4-wood club.

Bail Out - This means to avoid trouble or to get out of trouble. Generally, there are actually two different types of senses here. One way of bailing out is to make a long putt. The other method of bailing out is to hit a safer shot rather than risking putting the ball into a potential hazard by playing in a risky manner.

Ball - This is the instrument that is struck in attempt to get it in a hole. The covering is typically a hard rubber or a synthetic material that is covered with dimples or surface indentations.
